A MESSAGE FROM THE AUTHOR

Greetings, this is an exciting time in your life and the life of your church family. As you embark upon (or continue) this journey in ministry, understand that it is neither for fame nor glory. Realize that you are stepping into a ministry to preach and teach nothing but Christ and stepping into a calling that should not be taken lightly. You must know for sure that God has called you to this ministry in order to be an effective and productive disciple of the gospel. The Bible teaches us that one day you will have to stand before God the Father as He reviews your commitment to the purpose He called you to fulfill.

Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Because God has called you, understand that He has also equipped you for the call.

Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

As you continue to search and become fully evolved into the ministry in which God has placed you, ask yourself these questions:

  1. Am I sure I heard God’s voice?
  2. Am I willing to deny myself and take up my cross?
  3. Have I begun to design a plan to fulfill the calling on my life?
  4. Do I understand the commitment and sacrifice that comes from being called into the preaching ministry?

Foreword

The undertaking of training and developing ministers of the gospel is a demanding yet rewarding endeavor… Where there is much that can be said about the called and making one’s calling sure, there is an even greater need for structure within the church to present, inform and develop those who answer the call. Whether it is chaplaincy, hospital or military, marketplace ministry, or the church, having an organized process for training ministers can significantly enhance their prowess. This is critical as the landscape of ministry has shifted….
